SERVICING HUNTER REGION, NEWCASTLE, CENTRAL COAST, CANBERRA

About Us

Small enough to care. Specialist enough to get it right.

Hunter Building Restoration is run by Eden Terry — a Newcastle-based specialist who spent years in the trade before going out on his own. This is the story.

About HBR

Restoration done properly. By someone who actually shows up.

Hunter Building Restoration is a Newcastle-based property restoration specialist serving homes, investment properties, and commercial sites across the Hunter Region. We handle the full spectrum of restoration work — water damage, mould, fire and smoke, storm and flood, contents recovery, bulk waste removal, and specialist cleaning — with the kind of care and attention you’d expect from someone who lives down the road.

The business was founded by Eden Terry after years on the tools in the property restoration industry. The decision to go out on his own came from a simple idea: bring the technical capability of a big operation to the kind of clients who actually want to deal with a person, not a call centre. No layers. No subcontractor chains. Just Eden — and, on bigger jobs, a small trusted team who work to the same standard.

About HBR

Meet Eden & Preston

Eden Terry is the founder and lead specialist at Hunter Building Restoration. He’s spent the last few years working across the Hunter Region in property restoration — from emergency water damage callouts to large-scale fire and storm recoveries — building the skills, qualifications, and on-the-ground experience needed to do this kind of work properly.

What sets Eden apart isn’t just the technical side. It’s how he runs a job. He’ll talk you through what he’s found, explain the options in plain English, and follow up properly — not the kind of tradie who quotes you, disappears for a week, then surprises you with a number. He’ll tell you upfront if something’s outside his scope, and put you onto the right person if it is.

Process

How we work

Restoration is rarely just about fixing what’s broken. It’s about navigating insurance, talking to tenants, keeping a household calm, and getting things back to normal as quickly as possible. Here’s how we approach it.

1.

Honest assessments

We tell you what we find. Not what we think you want to hear, not what gets us the biggest quote. If something’s worse than expected, you’ll know. If it’s simpler than feared, you’ll know that too.

2.

Clear communication

You’ll always know what’s happening on your property. We explain what we’re doing and why, give realistic timeframes, and follow up — without you having to chase.

3.

Quality over speed

We move fast when we have to (and in this trade, you often have to). But we don’t cut corners to do it. Drying out water damage takes the time it takes. Treating mould at the source matters more than spraying the surface. We do the job once.

Our Customers

Who we work with

We’ve built the business around three types of clients, and we work hard to make each one feel like the priority.

Homeowners

When something goes wrong with your home, it’s not just a building — it’s your space, your family’s space, and it matters. We work around your routine as much as we can, keep the place liveable where possible, and explain everything as we go.

Property investors

Investment properties have different priorities — minimising downtime, protecting the asset, keeping tenants happy. We get that, and we work to it. Fast turnarounds, clear reporting, and detailed documentation if insurance is involved.

Real estate professionals

Agents and property managers often need someone reliable to put their clients onto — for pre-purchase inspections, post-tenant cleanouts, or emergency restoration jobs. We respond quickly, communicate clearly, and represent you well to your clients.

Got a project? Let's talk it through.

Whether it’s an emergency or a job you’ve been putting off, the first step is a conversation. Tell us what’s going on and we’ll give you an honest assessment — no pressure, no jargon.
